![]() Fourth Annual Scholarship Awarded in Memory of CU- Boulder Student Jaime Frantz
Once again, due to the continued support of our players, sponsors and donors, scholarship money has been awarded in honor of Jaime Frantz, a University of Colorado at Boulder student who was killed in a November 2001 hit-and-run accident. CU-Boulder students Ashley Minich and Lindsey Meyers received the 2006 scholarship proceeds at a May 2007 event at the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority house in Boulder. Jaime Frantz was a member of the Chi Delta chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi. She died on Nov. 3, 2001 -- a month before graduating with a business degree from the Leeds School of Business at CU - after being struck by a motorist at the intersection of Broadway and University. Jaime's parents, Lee and Sue Frantz, and her brother Chris with the help of Jaime’s friends and family, organized a golf tournament in Southern California in 2003 to raise money and coordinated the development of the scholarship. The tournament is held annually and sells out each year. To better broaden our potential candidates for the scholarship, proceeds from our June 4, 2007 tournament in the amount of $20,000.00 and future tournaments will now be awarded to a student in the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado. "This scholarship is such an amazing opportunity for both AOII, the Leeds School of Business and the University of Colorado as a whole," said Jen Backhaus, who was president of the AOII at the time of Jaime's death. "Very few colleges have a scholarship of the size donated by the Jaime Frantz Memorial Golf Tournament, and all parties owe this success to the very hard work and devotion of the Frantz family and their friends." |
