Sixth Annual Jaime Frantz Memorial Scholarship Awarded

CU-Boulder student Bradley Jordan, a resident of Louisiana, was awarded a $17,000.00 Scholarship in spring of 2009 for the Fall/Winter 2010 academic year. Bradley is majoring in business at the Leeds School of Business and upon graduation will attend medical school. We were honered to have Bradley and his father, Alan, join us at this years tournament and they truly enjoyed meeting all the participants.

For the sixth year in a row, due to the continued suppport of our players, sponsors and donors, we have awarded this scholarship in honor of Jaime Frantz, a Univeristy of Colorado at Boulder student who was killed in a November 2001 hit-and-run accident. Jaime was one month away from graduating from the Leeds School of Business when she was tragically taken from us.

Jaime's parents, Lee and Sue Frantz, and her brother Chris with the help of Jaime’s friends and family, organized a golf tournament in Southern California in 2003 to raise money and coordinated the development of the scholarship. The tournament is held annually and sells out each year.

The Jaime Frantz Memorial Scholarship is awarded yearly to a CU student enrolled in the Leeds School. Currently it is the largest single amount given by the business school for an academic year. The award criteria consists of the student showing financial need, have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, be an out-of-state resident and contribute to the campus community and be at least of sophomore standing in the Leeds School of Business.

"This scholarship is such an amazing opportunity for both the Leeds School of Business and the University of Colorado as a whole," said Jen Backhaus, who was also attending CU and Leeds at the time of Jaime's death. "Very few colleges have a scholarship of the size donated by the Jaime Frantz Memorial Golf Tournament, and all parties owe this success to the very hard work and devotion of the Frantz family and their friends."
